Best of the best

So to end the week on this fabulous Friday, I decided to post my top 10 movie picks (in no particular oder) and why.

  1. The Magnificent 7:  This is a movie I could see over and over again (which I have).  I love all the aspects of this great western.  First it is chock full of stars like Steve McQueen, Yul Brenner, Charles Bronson, Robert Vaughn, James Coburn and of course Eli Wallach.  It has a great storyline, plenty of action, and of course a love interest.
  2. The Big Lebowski:  This is another one that I could watch over and over.  First I think the storyline is hilarious.  Jeff Bridges as “The Dude” is simply fantastic.  Pluses are also John Goodman and Steve Buscemi (a favorite) who also star in the flick.
  3. All About Eve:  I love Bette Davis in this more than “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane” which is another classic.  She is definitely an acting legend and brings life and sparkle to any role she plays.
  4. Pulp Fiction:  I know everyone can agree on this choice.  Just the cast alone is a reason to see it.  I love the way the storyline is really about separate people and how they intertwine throughout the film.  Definitley Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta’s most stellar performances.  I also love the mystery of what’s in the suitcase since we never really find out.
  5. Kill Bill 1&2:  There’s no deciding which one is better because they are both equally fabulous.  Uma Thurman was definitely the right choice for this action packed, ass kicking flick.  What I also love is the way 1 goes right into 2 flawlessly.
  6. Back to the Future Trilogy:  These are even movies my kids now love, which is really amazing how it is timeless.  Michael J. Fox’s was also perfectly cast as Marty McFly, after all he did make us want to watch.  Would it have been this great is Eric Stoltz hadn’t been let go?  Thomas Wilson as Biff was hilarious with his 2 best lines “I hate manure” and “Helloooo McFly”.
  7. Black Hawk Down:  What I liked about this film, besides being based on a true story, is the reality of it all.  Everything was very realistic from the mortar shells to the machine guns.  I think it would be a tie between this and Saving Private Ryan.  Saving Private Ryan is fantastic, not only because of the all-star cast but because of the realness of the story.  Their trek to find the last surviving Ryan brother was truly heart wrenching.
  8. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon:  Everything about this movie I LOVE!!!  The cinematography alone is breathtaking.  It has it all action, love, compassion.  The martial arts choreography is more than amazing.
  9. Superman series:  I remember watching the 1st Superman when I was young and just being in awe of it all.  Christopher Reeve was really the epitome of the character.  No matter what or how long, when someone says Superman, Christopher Reeve will definitley come to mind.  Gene Hackman as the villain was genius.  Everyone has their favorite, but if you see 1 you have to see them all!
  10. The Wizard of Oz:  This is just a timeless classic.  I remember being so excited during the holidays when it came on TV.  We would sit as a family and watch it together.  It’s a beautiful story with a lot of fantasy and whimsy.  When it turns from black and white to color when Dorothy comes out of the house into Munchinland you just knew this was going to be magical.

So if you haven’t see them, check them out.  Let me know what are a few of your favorites.    Have a great weekend!!
